Yet again TLC have come up with a scheme
that is both cutting-edge and a winner. Think of the mentoring scheme
as a literary life support machine – so sign up and get creative.
Simon Trewin, Literary Agent, Peters, Fraser & Dunlop
Want to develop your writing under the guidance of a published author? Chapter and Verse, The Literary Consultancy’s mentoring scheme, is the perfect option for those serious about their writing.
Over the course of a year you will be mentored by an author who has been specifically chosen to best meet your needs. Through a series of one to one communications via email or post you will be given top level guidance from a professional author who will offer invaluable guidance on your fiction or poetry over 6 sessions. You may submit up to 10,000 words of prose or up to 10 pages of poetry to your mentor per session, so you will be receiving a unique level of individual feedback on your work. This is ideal for writers who feel they would benefit from one to one tuition and who might be unable to afford the course fees of creative writing MAs. You will also have the advantage of writing when and where it suits you – no attending classes at a set time/location, so it’s ideal for those juggling work and family commitments.
In today’s competitive publishing
climate writers need a quality mentoring service more than ever before.
Now TLC have come up with a dream scheme that’s going to totally
deliver.
Malcolm Burgess, Essex Literature Festival
Once you have completed your six sessions, you will have the opportunity to submit your manuscript to be read by one of TLC’s team of excellent readers. They’ll be able to give you an independent view of your writing, offering extra guidance on your work as a whole. (For more about what to expect from a TLC read, click here). After that, you’ll be invited to an event day in London, where you’ll get to meet members of the publishing industry (such as literary agents and editors) and learn more about the realities of getting published today.
If you are interested in taking part in the scheme, please read our details
about fees and terms and conditions below, before emailing
mentoring@literaryconsultancy.co.uk with your details or call 0207 813 4330.
The introductory offer rates of twenty places at £1,200 including VAT and twenty places at £1,500 including VAT have all been taken up. The full commercial rate of £1,920 including VAT, still good value for money, is now being charged.
50% of payment must be made in advance of course commencement. Payment should be made by cheque to The Literary Consultancy Ltd, Diorama Arts Centre, 1 Euston Centre, London NW1 3JG. The remaining 50% will be required following 3 mentoring ‘sessions’.
Please email mentoring@literaryconsultancy.co.uk with your details in advance of sending the first payment.
Once payment has been received, you will be put in touch with The Literary Consultancy’s Mentoring Coordinator. The Mentoring Coordinator will be in touch with you to discuss your needs and requirements. She will ask for a sample of your writing to be sent to her, and will then endeavour to find you a suitable mentor. Once you and your mentor have agreed to work together the course can commence.
Please note that in the unlikely event that we are unable to find you a suitable mentor The Literary Consultancy reserves the right to offer a full refund.
In the unlikely event that mentor or student should become dissatisfied, the mentoring co-ordinator will do the best to rectify the situation. However, please be aware that the payment preceding each set of 3 sessions will not be refunded should the sessions already be underway.
For the publishing industry event in London, participants must be responsible for their own travelling (and accommodation, if needed) expenses.
Please be aware that the aim of the scheme is to help writers think creatively and improve their work. While TLC undertakes to help writers on the road to getting published, participants on the scheme should be aware that there are no ‘guarantees’ of getting published/finding an agent.
